Wave 2009 Benefit Concert

Wave 2009 Benefit Concert

WAVE held a Benefit Concert, Auction and BBQ dinner on March 1st, 2009. It was a cold and blustery day, however folks attending the "Round-Up" enjoyed a great meal prepared by Chuck Husbands.  In addition, everyone attending enjoyed the wonderful music provided by local musicians and the auction hosted by Gene Deckerhoff.

On behalf of the developmentally disabled consumers served by WAVE and the Board of Directors, we want to convey a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors (noted below)and the local businesses who contributed money, time and effort to make the Round-Up a success.  A special word of thanks to all the musicians and volunteers who donated their time and talents to our annual fund-raiser.

Purpose, Philosophy and Goals

The Workshop for Adult Vocational Enrichment provides opportunities for social activities, community involvement, and life-skills training activities for adults and teens with developmental disabilities. Activities are designed to serve a broad range of abilities and preferences. Social activities include dances, swim parties, bowling, and hay-rides, to name a few. Life-skills training includes learning laundry skills by meeting weekly at a Laundromat and washing linens for local businesses as well as purchasing items at a grocery store which are then used at social activities. Our performing chorus meets weekly to practice and performs at various community events.

Our goal is to provide opportunities for involvement as well as the support and assistance needed to make the activities accessible and a successful experience for our clients. It is our philosophy to provide services that enhance the ability of each individual to be an integral part of the community and to foster friendships so as to take part in a rich social life that most of us take for granted.
